Living Without Technology
Neil Postman’s essay “Virtual Students, Digital Classroom” opens the eyes to so many when it comes down to technology. I can personally say that I broadened my view about how serious and how much is really placed into technology today in the twenty-first century. Of course I agree with postman without a shout of a doubt that technology does and from the looks of it continue to play a major role in the classroom of today’s students.
Only because we now live in a society that we use technology in just about everything we do without realizing it because we have come so adapt to using in. Which comes right in to what postman was saying in so many words that technology becomes a god. Often times this type of behavior is going on and many people are probably even unaware that they are making it seem as if technology is their god!
I can remember many of times being told by older family members that we have it (as a generation) so easy and much better than they did. Being that they had to use type writers and often times had retype the same page of a paper three or four times a night because of a mechanical mess up with the eraser.
Which draws me to the conclusion that its good to appreciate technology, but its important that we don’t worship technology is the aspect that we can’t live without it! Because if push came to shove and technology became outlawed we would learn how to live without the devices that make our day-to-day life much more easier even though it probably would seem to be impossible. Which poses me to ask the question if technology was to be outlawed to only a minimum today how would you adjust to the change?

I agree with brandon, yes teschnology is great and very helpfull, but we must learn to be able to live without also. becoming obessed with technology and worshiping it as a god has gone to far, and maybe outlawing some technology may help some people.
I agree with you because if push did come to shove how would we live day to day.
I also agree with you about the fact that when my grandmother was a little girl they did not have computers.
It is important to be able to live with out technology. Technology is to helping humans make there life easier. I would not say we worship technology. Some people act as if they couldn't live with out it.
I agree with you all. Technology has replaced a lot of things. Some of them are good and useful, like computers. But on the other hand technology has also brought some negative sides, like nowadays young people just prefer playing computer games and other video games rather than go out to play sports, which is then related to a lot of problems like obesity among young people.
Conecerning what Brandon said about technology being outlawed, I don't think people could live without it, because it is already a huge and essentia; part of our lives.
Sometimes we don't even realize how much easier and simple things are comparing to what they were a few generations ago. Of course there are some negative sides like vuokko said about videogames, but overall i believe that technology is essential and I couldn't live without it.
Of course technology is a good thing. It makes day-to-day life so much easier and enjoyable. However, I believe that we should not spoil ourselves and should never fully rely on technology. As humans, I believe deep down we crave independence. And if we can't live day-to-day without technology, then we have gone too far.
I agree with Brandon that technology is great. Technology is great because most people depend on it for almost everything. Without it most people would not know what to do, it's like they lost their lives. Computers are great and I know that if my computer wasn't working and I couldn't get on to check email and just get online, I will still be able to live my day because it's not something that I have to do. Talking online is great, but it's so much better talking to someone in person because you see them and you see their expressions and it's easier to talk because you don;t know if the other person is doing other things or you're not worried about minutes and phone bills.
I agree with Brandon that technology is great and very useful. It's very hard trying to live without it. I don't know what I'd do if I didn't have my phone, computer, or car!
