Time and Money Wasted

Caroline Bird has an interesting opinion in “College is a Waste of Time and Money”. She clearly believes that College is no good because it is very expensive and that students should not have to go to College. Bird gave an example that when children don’t want to go to school they should not go since they might know something the parents don’t know. She suggests that College students should be treated the same way. Bird also talks about how a degree or a certificate or a diploma don’t guarantee you to get a job or the job you want.

I agree that Colleges are getting pretty expensive, making it harder for some people to get an education. However I do believe that College is necessary because you really learn more than what you could if you don’t go to College. On the other hand there are many courses that I think are not even close to necessary and still we, the students, have to take them in order to graduate. To me that is a waste of time and money. Many students start College with general education courses because they don’t know what Major to choose. After a while some of those drop out because they ran out of money paying unnecessary or unwanted courses. I think there should be a program that helps students decide what major is best for them according to their skills, and if there is one already, then they need to spread the word because many don’t know about it.

I do disagree when Bird says that College students should stay home if they want to because many times they are just being lazy, I don’t think it’s because they know something that the parents don’t, they just need discipline. College students should not waste their opportunity for education. Certainly should not waste any time and money!
Do you think College is a waste of time and money?... and who knows what else.

I agree that colleges are expensive, but I disagree that some courses aren't necessary. I think all courses are necessary. I am a science major, but I think that English and Math are necessary.

I think that English and Math are necessary because educated people, such as doctors, need to act and talk professional, or else people will think that they are uneducated. What would you think if you went to the doctor's office and they didn't know how to speak correct English?

They also need math skills in order to calculate bills. If they didn't have any math skills, then they could overcharge you accidentally because they don't know how to calculate how much you owe.

I agree that colleges are beginning to become very expensive. I agree with this because I have been though it.

Colleges today are considered to be very educational in many ways, but they nver seem to tell you that tuition will be rising until the last minute.

Like I said I have been through it and that is the reason why I am not at the University that I was attending last year.

I agree with what ashley and latasha have said about how the courses are necessary because of future problems that we might face such as money for Math and proper language for business ediquit which is English.

Also colleges are indeed expensive and this is were we learn more about finances since most students take out loans. I mean whats the differnce between gettin and education at Piedmont Tech. than Lander other than this is a University, I mean we're learning the same stuff.

I Agree whith you wendy because I don't think college students should stay home just because they can't make up their mind. I believe that college students should not waste the opportunity of receiving higher education.I also believe that college is becoming expensive. It was kinda hard for me but I made it.

I see both points in this argument/post. I don't think college is for everybody. It's the fact that very few people actually get the jobs that they work toward in college convinces me of this. Honestly, why should people pay $16,000+ a year, for four+ years, when they aren't likely to get a job in their field?
