Who has it easier? Women or Men?

In Scott Russell Sander essay, "The Men we Carry in Our Minds...and How they Differ from the Real Lives of Most Men." I ask you, Who has it easier? Men or Women? In the beginning of the essay Sander and one of his female friends are talking and she replies that, "men have it harder". True enough women are looked at as the primary caregiver in the family. Women are expected to do everything, work, have children, and take care of the home. Not realizing that in majority families the partner or older children can make it easier for the woman. Men always have to "live with their past" and carry it with them wherever they go. Men are often pressured to make something of themselves and if they don't then they are seen as a failure. "Like the menfolk, they fretted about money, they scrimped and made do. But, when the pay stopped coming in, they were not the ones who had failed". This is no way fair to men, especially thoughs men who don't get the opportunity to go to college and make their lives a little bit easier. Often men aren't big time lawyers or physicans but they are indeed hard working individuals who deserve to have a little ease in their lives. Women shouldn't not be the only ones that have it easy.

Although you can say that women have a tough life, with giving birth to children and deal with other challenges, I still believe that women do live easier lives than men. There are many women that are given that either special attention, or allowed leniency on things that might not be occur with men.

I believe our society needs to recognize that neither men nor women 'have it easy’ today. Each sex has their own troubles which they have to face. Women are living as if they have to make up for the last 100 years of oppression. They are looked on as the base of their family. On the other hand, most men have to work to support their families. We must realize that not only men have to ‘live with their past’. No person in this world has it easy today; we all have our demons which we must live with every day.

I agree with Kayla R. now in days no one can actually sit back and say that neither women nor men have it easy. Yes women might have more special privileges but in no way do women live “easier” lives because of their gender.

Kayle made a good point because each sex has their on characteristics that makes their life difficult. Women have various things in life that they go through, but men also have ostacles that they have to overcome. Overall, the pressure on the sexes are equivalent.

I think both men and women both have tough lives especially if both are in the work force and both have to help raise kids.

I agree with Kayla also. Both sexes have problems that make their lives difficult. But, I do think that women have it easier then men! Women have to go through child birth, are expected to take care of the children, and have to take care of the house, some of them even have to work. All most men have to do is go to work, then come home and watch sportcenter. Although not everyone is like this, most women have a harder life than men.

Who has it tougher, men or women? This argument could go on for years(and it has). Kayla is right, who can make this decision? What hurts most: getting kicked in the balls, or having a baby? Who knows!!

This doesn't matter anyway because men and women compliment each other. They are not meant to compete, but are meant to get along and help each other.

Kayla R, i totally agree with you. As I read the comment I realized that men and women both have jobs, but generally neither one is easier than the other. Yes, some men do hard labor work, but what about the women that get up early, get dressed, get the kids up, fed, and ready for school, take the kids to school on the way to work, work all day, get off, pick up the kids, get their homework done while they cook supper, get the kids a bath, clean the house, and finally get ready for bed. I think a woman's job of being a mom alone takes up for the man's hard labor work.

I agree with you Simone, I also think that men have harder lives. Men has to provide for a family, do in and outside work (when I say inside work i mean like if something gets broken), and work on a daily job. I think in order to have a prosperous family men has to work harder than women, but in the end all that hard work will pay off

I disagree wit that fact that women have it easier than men. It all depends on the fact if there are two parents in the household when raising a child. I think that both have a larger responsiblity but when it all falls down most mothers are going to have to take on the burden. So you can not say that either has it easier because it can go both ways.
