Is College for You?
In the proposal about how college is a waste of time and money, Bird makes her point about why she believes that college is a waste of time and money. Birds point is that students should have the right to be able to choose what they want to do with their life. One reason would be that colleges are being forced on high school graduates. Meaning high school graduates are being told they have to receive higher learning in order to have a good job. Another reason Bird thinks that college is a waste of time is because the cost of colleges are becoming a problem for some students that really have no money. Third reason on how Colleges are a waste of time is when a person receives their degree in a field that they want, but goes into another field of work. Going into a new field is just a waste of time and money.
As for my experiences as a freshman in college, I felt as though I was being pressured in high school about going to college. I really didn’t have a say so about what I was doing with my life. I was told that I would be nothing in life if I didn’t attend college. College to me was the only way out. Personally, colleges are not a waste of time because we are receiving the help we need to pursue the career that we want. I felt as though college is preparing us for the real world. The costs of colleges are not cheap, but it’s pretty expensive. I felt as though if I can benefit from it I might as well pay for it then.
How do you feel about college and how have you benefit from it? Is college a waste of time and money?
