In Adam Sternbergh essay," Got bub all up in the hizzle, yo!" he gives perfect examples on how termanology from rap lyrics have entered I our everyday conversations. Sternbergh goes on to explain why "business" like terms aren't you used in daily conversations. He says,"The difference though is that business jargon exist only to create the illusion of innovation in the absense of new ideas." I translated this is in mind as him saying that " business jargon" is used to make thing seem more important then what they are, and slang terms gives new and exciting meaning to a word that keeps an audiences attention. Even though an english professor might critique you on your use of grammar, because what is "hip", isn't always appopriate.

Sternbergh also talks about how hip-hop lyrics are to comprehend. Sternbergh discuss how rappers use words because it rhymes, but it makes no sense like,"anthrax with tampax". This is how one couls sound if they only talked in slang, only people in your age group would be able to understand what you were trying to say.
I believe the point Adam Sterbergh was trying to get across is there is a time a place to use slang, but when it comes to professional conversations slang shouldn't be present.

Who's in the Kitchen

After reading Verta Mae "The Kitchen Crisis" I was a little heated by the contact of the text, but I had to read it a few more times to understand where the writer was coming from. When I first read the text I thought the author was a little racist, but she was really using ethos to keep the readers attention. By using incorrect grammar throughout the text she mocks the stereotype of what people think of African Americans, then she starts to be academic about it and starts making points about what people stereotype blacks to be, and lets her readers know that these stereotypes are universal.She goes out her way to make herslef look like an idiot, but at the same time she is getting important information out. I believe the author did a great job at getting her message out there.

Low Self Esteem

After reading Kenneth Bruffe essay on binge drinking, I drew the conclusion he was trying to point out that college students with low- self esteem usually turn to drinking for comfort. Bruffe talks about how freshmen college students turn to fraternities and sororities to avoid the journey of getting to know others outside of the Greek culture.He talks about his experience with his fraternity and his college years,and also adds in a research background on the topic, making the essay persuasive, which made me focus on what was being said.Bruffe gives great example of his own experience as a college, but while reading his essay you sense stereo typing.He makes in seem as Greek cultures are the same. Then he gives reason why students becomes a binge drinker.Bruffe mentions that the reduce of social desperation can drive a student to alcohol. The message that I received after reading this essay was, work before pleasure.
