Media v.s. Self-Esteem

When I was reading the eassy about "Hunger" by Maggie Helwig their was a couple of passages that I truely enjoyed. Their was also some things in the eassy that brought
my attention to a complete stop.the first thing that stand out was how females would change the way they look just to belong. the reason why I said that because the media has put so much information on t.v. and in magazines. One time when I was in 7th grade I became drawn into the media also. Why I became drawn? well I started doing things to harm my body, such as make myself throw up, servation. I felt as though that if I follow the media about how being skinny is better. I believe that in Maggie Helwig eassy she was writing to let her reader's know about how the media change the way young girls will think. Just like the olsen twin and Lenzie Lohan. They are famous and they have a lot of teenage girls looking up to them. So as her reader's what kind of point is Maggie Helwig trying to make in her eassy? To me her point was that the media was showing young ladies that it's alright to do these things. magazines has Ad's about how to loss weight and what can be done. I believe that young ladies should become who ever they want to be and trying to be someone you are not is truely isn't cool.
