Instructions for Wednesday's Class

On Wednesday, 3/21, class will not meet in the regular classroom. Instead, you should plan to meet with your writing partner(s) to continue work on your essays. At the beginning of the period, you must check in with me so that I can count you present for the day. I will be sitting at the table or couches on the first floor of the library, near the computer terminals where you worked on Monday. Please do not congregate in the lobby of the library; there may be other classes gathering there, and you should not disturb them.

Once both partners have checked in with me, you are free to work wherever you like. I strongly suggest that you bring your laptop. Because of scheduling conflicts, I have not been able to reserve a computer lab or the stations where you worked on Monday, and having your laptops will allow you to work anywhere.

When you are in the library on Wednesday, and especially if you choose to stay there for the entire class period, please keep in mind that you should be quiet there. Certainly you’ll need to talk with your partner(s) during class, but remember to keep your voices as low as possible out of respect for the librarians and other students working there.

At the end of the class period, each writing team needs to hand in one copy of the topic proposal sheet I handed out on Friday. (I will only accept these at the end of the class period, so plan to spend the entire 50 minutes working on something related to your essay.) When you hand in your topic proposal, I will give you a handout with one of the readings for Friday. The other reading for Friday is available as a .pdf online at http://www.grossmont.edu/bertdill/docs/CollegeWaste.pdf.
