Who's in the Kitchen
After reading Verta Mae "The Kitchen Crisis" I was a little heated by the contact of the text, but I had to read it a few more times to understand where the writer was coming from. When I first read the text I thought the author was a little racist, but she was really using ethos to keep the readers attention. By using incorrect grammar throughout the text she mocks the stereotype of what people think of African Americans, then she starts to be academic about it and starts making points about what people stereotype blacks to be, and lets her readers know that these stereotypes are universal. She goes out her way to make herslef look like an idiot, but at the same time she is getting important information out. I believe the author did a great job at getting her message out there.
