Smiling Faces
In Amy Cunniham's essay "Why Women Smile", she speaks about her smiling all the time is not always a great thing. Her own husband even told her that when people see her smile they like her in a fuzzy way and not in the serious adult way. She goes on to talk about how we, everyone, not only smile when we are happy or laughing but in almost every situation we can be put into; like in Japanese being known to smile when they are frightened. Her essay later continues to describe how babys just smile without any connection to any feelings at all. Laughter and smiling can be used to help many people lighten a situation like and embarrassing moment or being in a place where they are not total comfortable. I do not agree with her essay in that smiling is always a good thing. There is though such things as smiling way to big or not smiling big enough. Everyone enjoys to smile and laugh every once in a while and it might even be good for you. Smiling is also a powerful form of lifting someones day or make an awkward moment seem better.

I agree with you John because I love to smile. My day starts by me smiling and showing others that even though my day may seem bad I am still happy. I also know that smiling can also hide the pain of a person. My smiles make a person day.If I am happy my friends have no choice but to be happy when they are around me.
I can relate to you Tammy because I love to smile. I find myself smiling at the weirdest times. Like if someone is saying something and i dont understand them I might just smile or laugh. I think that seeing someone smiles kind of puts you in a good mood.
I liked the part of the essay where the author talks about babies smiling for no reason. I know I always use to wonder what babies be thinking when they are smiling or laughing.
I agree with Tammy and Kasheia in that I love to smile. I am usually in a pretty good mood and I want others to know that and to be in a good mood with me. When other people smile back at me it makes my day.
I also agree with John, Tammy, because smiling really just makes me happy...period. I love to smile. And I have many time been told that by smiling it brightens someone else's day. So I do agree with john that smiling is a very important thing and i brightener in almost everyon's day.
I agree with you all. I love to smile and make other people smile. Smiling brightens my day and hopefully everyone else's. I also agree with John when he says that smiling is not always a good thing. I know that I smile sometimes when I am nervous or embarrased.
I agree with all of the above comments. A smile really does make most situations seem better. My mom always told me that it takes more muscles to frown than it does to smile.
I agree and disagree with you John. People know that i LOVE to smile and i do it all the time. Its because i'm always in a happy mood. It takes a lot to get me mad, so i'm not mad often. Smiling doensn't always mean you're covering up something because when im mad i just relieve the situation by talking it out before getting stresses about it. That's why i'm always smiling because i don't let things bother me too easily. People might not always take me seriously but they know when i'm acting goofy and when i'm upset about something because i voice my opinion.
Smiling can mean a variety of things, that is why it is such a great characteristic to have. I agree with all of the comments made. Smiles can make a bad situation better than what it was.
Smiling is a good way to conceal your true thoughts. Most people start to smile when they think of something devious and pleasing to themselves, and alot of times, the reasons for smiling are best left to the person that's smiling. I think that it's more pleasing to smile while making others' smile. A chain reaction involving good emotions tend to spark pleasure centers in the brain that are similar to the effects of hallucenogenic drugs.
I agree with you Tammy. No matter what you will never see me in a bad mood, not because I'm always happy but I was taught never to let em see you sweat. So I walk around with a smile on my face as much as I can. But you can still tell by how there attitude is if they are puuting on a front.
I also agree with the comments. A simple smile can be used to break the ice and raise the spirit of someone you may not even know and make their day go better. Smiles, even if they are fake, still send a message across to others and help them out.
I agree that you should sometimes hide your sad or angry sides with a smile. This in my opinion is form of respect to everyone. I think a smile can be used in almost every situation to make it a good one.
I beleve that smiling is an important thing everyone love to see someone happy or excited, but that is the problem with smiles u can't always tell if someone is smiling because they are happy because people smile in almost every situation. One of the biggest examples i can think of is beauity pagents my sister did them a lot and although she was smiling up on stage she wasn't always happy.
I agree with tammy, a smile is a great thing it can bring happiness to other even if you are not happy but just smiling. Smiling is a good habit to have, it brings a great thing to any friendship.
I agree John, smiling can be up lifting for the people around you, but it can also be deceiving. If some one is having a bad day they may just smile to avoid a confrontation with people. in a sense smiling is not always what it is cracked up to be. so just becasue some one is smiling you can't assume they are happy
I agree with you John when u say smiling isnt always a good thing. Sometimes when u smile all the time people tend to get the wrong message that your trying to send out. People may think that when u smile at them that you like them or you may be flirting with them. At the same time smiling can also be a good thing because when people look at you an see you smiling all the time it can tell them that your an happy person.

I agree with you John because also love to smile, just to avoid the questions of concern.I'm guilty of covering my emotions with a smile just because it makes things easier on me.
