A Con for You Maybe

In the article I selected to write on for our first essay “Casual sex is a con: women just aren’t like men” I find that Dawn Eden is only stating her own personal opinion and no other way to back it up.

Though personal opinions of others should help you make your decision about whether something is good or bad, Eden, to me, has already made the decision that casual sex is bad for all women. She brings in no outside sources other than her mother, and in both cases her mother had a separate opinion than she did. This shows me that no two people can have the exact same feelings about something, and that making a big statement that casual sex is bad for women, in the end, boils down to one very bias opinion.

Yes this is my very bias opinion too, so please if you see this article in any another way tell me your opinion.

I agree with Cody B, she does just state her opinion and doesn’t give many examples backing it up other than her mothers. This may be the case but I still agree with Eden. I don’t believe in casual sex and it can be especially damaging for women because of their god given instincts.

I agree with Cody on the fact that Eden only uses her own point of view on the subject matter. I do disagree on the fact that she is making a generalization that she believes needs to be applicable to all women. The reasoning for her to believe that casual sex is a con is due to the need for women to form an emotional bond. The reason that she doesn't use other examples is because she feels the need to emotionally connect women to her personal story, so therefore she doesn't need other sources.

I agree with you Cody. I also feel that Eden does not use other examples to back up her reasoning. It seems like she wants everyone especially women to connect eith her. She makes it seem like you should not have have casual sex if you are not in love with your partner.

I agree that Eden does make a bias opinion. But I disagree with Eden when she states tha sex is a con; women aren't like men because some women are in deed worse that men because they don't respect themselves or their bodies

That is an interesting point, Brandon. I both agree and disagree.

It is true that some women are worse than men about casual sex. For example, on Sex and the City, most of the women are sex crazy and will sleep with any man they meet.

However, this doesn't mean that that is the reason women are different than men. These women are usually the exception to the rule. I think that Eden is right, but she just needed more outside sources.

I agree with Cody on the fact that Eden has a very bias opinion. I also agree with brandon's comment on how some women are as bad as men if not worse. I agree with everybody on the fact that Eden is just using her on experiences without any other sources to back them up.

I agree with Cody B. I do think that the writer states her own opinion and does not give any outside resources to prove her point. Sometimes the opinion of one person is effective in their persuasion but many times readers want to know why they should agree to the writers point.

I too agree with you Cody. The fact that Eden only uses her own opinion is being bias. I think the article would be better if she had someone else point of view other than hers.

Cody I agree with you one- hundred percent, Eden article is very bias. Eden should have actually had statements or facts proven that all women or at least some women have the same feelings she does about casual sex.

I agree that no two people have the exact same opinion about anything, especially if the subject is as controversial as sex. Eden would have made a better argument if she had more logic within her essay. Her personal experiences are only the account of one person, she would have been better if she included another woman’s opinion on the topic. She was too quick to conclude the sex is a con.

I agree with Cody. She has no conclusive evidence other than her own personal experience. I think this made her essay very weak. If she would have got more outside sources it would have been much more stronger.

I as well agree with Cody B, in this essay Eden has no other opinion and views other than her mothers. She needs to take a step back and gather some more information before presenting a case to the public. Had she gathered more information from outside sources she could have swayed the reader rather than a feeble essay of her bias.

I agree with Cody also. Because the text is opinionated it is hard to give feed back. She doesn't give enough evidence to support opinions.

i agree with you cody. Eden does seem to state her opinion on the subject. i ask the question, does it seem that Edan has had a bad experience involving sex? I think she is looking for simpathy off other women.
